Adam and Erica Antolik were both raised on farms growing up. We still help on the family farm in the evenings and on the weekends. We wanted to keep the tradition going by starting our own small farm for our two daughters, Elsie & Maelee. This started in the Spring of 2014. We started off with 15 chicks. After the chicks came fainting goats, bottle calves, a miniature pony and a rabbit.
About the goats we raise.....
Myotonic Goats, Nervous Goats, Peg-Leg, or Fainting Goats
Story has it that Marshall County, Tennessee has been named the cradle of the Myotonic Goat. Local goat history tellers say that four black & white, stiff legged goats were escorted to Marshall County in the 1880s by a man named John Tinsley. At that time, they were unusual because of the myotonic condition which caused their muscles to stiffen and then relax. It is believed that John Tinsley came from Nova Scotia, Canada, but no one knows where he found his unusual goats. They were medium sized goats with bold facial expressions, medium length ears, sturdy framework, and thick muscling. The breed is generally hardy, disease resistant, prolific breeders, and good mothers. They usually milk generously for about four months & most (but not all) wean their kids on their own.
